AP Seminar: Technology and Society
Released in 2014, the AP Seminar is an introductory course to research within the AP Capstone Diploma and the AP Seminar & Research Certificate. The AP Seminar course is yearlong, and runs from September - May. In the course, students will learn to investigate real-world issues through synthesizing information from different sources, developing persuasive arguments, and delivering oral presentations independently and within a team environment. The goal of AP Seminar is to equip students with the skills to critically analyze and evaluate information to support the creation of evidence-based arguments and perspectives.
Course Structure:

Lecture format: All instruction will be completed virtually via Zoom

LMS: All assignments will be submitted through Canvas

Weekly Course Load: 2 hours of "lecture" + 1.5 hours of discussion/teamwork sessions

Office Hours: Office hours will be available throughout the week by appointment for additional support

Course Expectations: Students should expect to spend at least 1 hour a week reading and annotating scholarly articles and books written for an academic audience as foundational sources to guide class discussions.

Grade of B+ or higher on honors/AP course(s)

English proficiency score for student's whose main language of instruction is not English

Non-US based students will be invited for a quick 15-minute interview to ensure fit for the course
